Thanks to all of you who attended the February 21 membership meeting. The NALS of Phoenix Passport 2013 project is underway! Those who were unable to join us at the meeting can look forward to a packet in the mail containing your personal passport and other useful information.

Director of Education, Brandi Hobbs, ALS, presented the introductory “What NALS of Phoenix Members can do for you…” feature focusing on contributions from members that are useful for all of us. Kathy Sieckman, PP, PLS, CP, shared her template for following up with litigation team members about filing reminders. The template will be posted to www.nalsofphoenix.org along with Kathy’s contact information.

President-elect, Donna Vangury, LDP, circulated a roster update form to refresh contact information from members and to solicit input for what
members want to see from NALS of Phoenix in the coming months. Suggestions included technology education, interaction with other legal peer-group associations, motivational speakers, and opportunities to get to know our fellow members. If you have a pet project that you’d like to lead or get involved with, please contact a board member to get the process underway. The board will do its best to incorporate all these ideas into the chapter’s activity calendar to create programs that appeal to everyone.

Several of our members attended the annual NALS Professional Development and Education Conference held February 28 through March 2 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The chapter subsidizes expenses for our Director of Membership and President-elect to attend the conference, and we’re looking forward to hearing reports about their trip at the March 14 membership meeting. The Professional Development Conference focuses on leadership training tracks for state and local chapter officers in addition to a full slate of education and networking events for all attendees.

There are leadership opportunities still available for the 2013 year, as Treasurer or Historian. The Treasurer maintains the chapter’s financial
records; the Historian prepares a photographic record of the year’s activities and incorporates the photos into a memory archive. If you’d like to enhance your world in one of these ways, please let an officer know; appointments will be endorsed at the March 7 board meeting.

The March 14 membership meeting is on the calendar. We’ll enjoy some traditional Irish food along with a business meeting, an hour of CLE
featuring Judy Dworkin, Esq., of Sacks Tierney P.A. speaking on “Doing Business in Indian Country” and plenty of social networking opportunities. RSVP online at www.nalsofphoenix.org or houstontj@aol.com or by telephone at 623.341.4306. You do not need to purchase a meal to attend; the CLE hour is provided at no charge to NALS members and only $5 for guests. We’d appreciate an RSVP to ensure adequate seating is available. Please share the attached notice with your friends and coworkers and encourage them to join us.
